MyFitnessPal Review
MyFitnessPal is one of the best-known calorie counters. The food database is enormous and barcode scanning works well. The free version is increasingly restricted, with advanced insights and ad removal locked behind a subscription that some users find overpriced.
Community reviews
Almost every packaged food I scan is already in the database. Logging meals takes seconds once you are used to it.
Many useful features like macro breakdowns are behind the subscription. The ads are also more intrusive than they used to be.
The scanner works quickly even in poor lighting. It makes tracking restaurant portions less painful.
I have used MyFitnessPal for years but the recent price increase feels greedy for features that were once free.
Pros
- Massive food database
- Reliable barcode scanner
- Long-established community
Cons
- Free version is limited
- Ads can be intrusive
- Subscription price increased
